Snuggled in the Western Ghats, one of the world”s richest bio-diversity spots, is the fascinating natural wild life sanctuary of Thekkady –the protected Periyar Tiger Reserve.Spread across 777sq.km, of which 360 sw.km is thick evergreen forest, the Periyar Wild Life sanctuary was declared a Tiger Reserve in 1978.This is the only sanctuary in India where you have the unique experience of viewing wildlife at close quarters from the safety of a boat.
